Dr. Soeldner's Biography
Dr. Soeldner, born and raised in Manitowoc, WI, completed her Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Psychology at the University of Minnesota. She received her Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology and her Doctorate of Psychology degrees at the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in Springfield, MO.
During her educational training, Dr. Soeldner received the College Liberal Arts Internship Scholarship and the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program Grant form the University of Minnesota. Dr. Soeldner obtained the Dean's List status from both the University of Minnesota as well as the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology.
Dr. Soeldner has had clinical experience working with patients who have had brain injury, communication difficulties, and also with patients who have been treatment- resistant. She has assisted chemical dependency patients in developing drug and alcohol relapse prevention strategies. Concomitantly, Dr. Soeldner has conducted many psychological assessments for troubled children and adolescents. She has also offered expert forensic testimony in Juvenile Court. Dr. Soeldner has taught parenting skill classes, conducted acute partial and inpatient hospitalization assessments, and provided outpatient psychotherapy to a broad range of clientele.
In a voluntary capacity, Dr. Soeldner has provided consultation and crisis intervention on a 24-hour telephone hotline. At the community level, Dr. Soeldner has utilized Advocacy Skills and participated in community awareness activities educating the public about sexual victimization. She instructed the public about issues including crisis counseling, communications skills, and legal and medical issues regarding sexual violence, diversity issues, and sexual harassment.
Throughout her academic training, Dr. Soeldner held positions in Minnesota, Missouri, and Indiana. Her research interest during the this time included chemical dependency, career and academic counseling, exceptional education of intellectually and creatively gifted children, adolescent leadership, student confidence, college mastery and decision making. Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, Fibermyalgia/Myofacial Pain Syndrome, crisis counseling, and diversity issues. Along with these topics, Dr. Soeldner continues to enjoy researching Borderline Personality, Bipolar, and Posttraumatic Stress Disorders, self-mutilation, motivation, at risk students, sexual assault, physical abuse, and harassment issues.
At Riverhill Psychological Associates, Dr. Soeldner provides psychological counseling to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and groups. She also completes psychodiagnostic assessments and consultations for business, government, and social agencies. She enjoys appearing on and discussing various psychological topics on radio talk shows such as WOMT's "Be My Guest" and WCUB's "Breakfast Club". Additionally, she has been interviewed and has discussed psychological topics for media events. She has written articles for newspapers and authored responses for a teen advise column. She has spoken and continues to speak at many medical, community, and professional organizations.
Personally, Dr. Soeldner enjoys spending time with her family, playing golf, entertaining, reading, and being active in the community. She has a spontaneous and optimistic personality.
