    The children in my class ranged in age from 9 to 11 years old. I created a customized token economy behavior modification program for each child. A graduate course in behavior modification was subsequently held in my classroom to train other teachers in behavior modification techniques.

    For two years I interned and worked as a clinical psychologist in school settings with direct supervision and with frequent consultation with three staff psychiatrists. I worked with approximately 50 other psychologists in numerous psychodiagnostic projects. I provided individual counseling and psychotherapy to a multicultural and diverse inner city population. I consulted with local mental hygiene clinics, hospitals, and other treatment facilities. I attended many seminars and workshops during this period which served to augment my clinical experience.

    Individual counseling and group therapy were the primary focus of the Army's inaugural program to combat drug and alcohol abuse in Germany. I was employed as the head counselor and staff advisor to nine other counselors. I had approximately 25 men to counsel each week, the program for each man lasting a minimum of eight weeks. I also coordinated detoxification treatment in conjunction with the Nuremberg Hospital Detoxification Ward. In the community, I served as coordinator for the drug education program in the Army Post School in Bamberg. In January, 1974, I was selected as a facilitator for the U.S. Army's Drug and Alcohol Convention held in Chiemsee, Germany. I was also the only civilian chosen to speak with and advise General Creighton Abrahams, United States Army and previous Commander of American Forces in Vietnam, Joint Chief of Staff, Washington, D.C., regarding drug and alcohol problems experienced by military personnel stationed in Europe and Vietnam.
